This Grad Student's Journey

So, there I was one day thinking about which grad program to pursue, and it hit me. You should do something in technology because you basically know nothing about technology. Plus, where else are we headed (in education) if not in the direction of a technologically saturated world. I was ready to exit my comfort zone and get a master’s degree.
With each semester of the program, a similar cycle has ensued comparable to the Hero’s Journey-- little micro journey’s, if you will. And with each class came a new set of challenges and joys to balance along with all the ones that just come with life…young kids, aging parents, international living and teaching, traveling, and the most recent, repatriating to the US.
At times, the price was heavy. I had to forgo time with family, friends, work and sleep; not to mention leisure reading. But at the end of each course, the hard work and sacrifice had paid off, and I had earned a shiny A. Of course, what I gained in experience and understanding was ample, and I am better for it. But an A is always a nice gem to add to my graduate crown.
Now, as I take my last grad class, Learning with Digital Stories, I look forward to the tasks at hand. I am anxious, as usual, but I’ll find poise(ish). And, with any luck (and hard work), I’ll finish with a gleaming jewel +.
